Used Car Lease to Own in Dubai: How a Pre-Owned Price Sets Your Monthly

Our fleet is pre-owned, 2021 to 2026 cars. Here is how a used car’s price, year and kilometres turn into the numbers you sign, and what to check before you do.

Written by , Co-Founder, Investor & Operating Partner· Updated · Fact-checked by Serhii Orobchenko on

Can you lease a used car in Dubai?

Yes. You can lease a used car in Dubai on a lease-to-own plan and own it after the last payment. The monthly follows the car’s price, not its age: a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4MATIC Coupé at AED 175,000 is AED 6,880 a month over 36 months, with a 20% initial payment and no final payment (1 November 2026).

It is sometimes called rent to own, but it is not a rental: a rental car goes back at the end and nothing you paid stays with you, while here every payment goes towards the car and at the end it is transferred to your name. No bank is involved. You apply with your Emirates ID and UAE driving licence, get a decision within 24 hours, and a car from our fleet can be ready in 1–3 business days.

Our fleet is, in practice, a pre-owned fleet. On 1 November 2026 it had 46 cars from 2021 to 2026, 41 of them 2023 or newer, and across the 33 cars with a recorded odometer reading the median was about 59,000 km, from 14,878 km on a 2024 A 180 to 118,514 km on a 2022 G 63.

Used car lease vs a bank loan on a used car

Side by side:

  • Ownership. Bank loan: yours from day one, with the bank’s mortgage on the registration until it is repaid. Lease to own with us: yours after the last payment.
  • What you apply with. Bank loan: the bank’s own checks, commonly salary documents and an Al Etihad Credit Bureau report. Lease to own with us: Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence, with no salary certificate and no bank statements.
  • Cash on day one. Bank loan: at least 20%, because UAE Central Bank rules cap a bank car loan, on a new or a used car, at 80% of the vehicle’s value. Lease to own with us: the initial payment (20% on the standard plan) plus the first annual payment; some cars can start without an initial payment.
  • Term. Bank loan: up to 60 months. Lease to own with us: 12, 24 or 36 months, depending on the car.

With a strong salary file and 20% in cash, a bank may cost you less over the term. Lease to own is built for the people a bank turns away or slows down: new residents, the self-employed, anyone without a UAE credit history.

How a used car gets its price in the UAE

A used car has no list price: after the first registration it is worth what comparable cars change hands for, adjusted for that particular car. The inputs, roughly in order of weight:

  • Comparable cars on the market. The same model, a similar year and similar kilometres, listed right now. More listings soften prices; scarcity holds them.
  • Year and model cycle. A used car is valued against the newest version of itself. In our fleet the 2025 G 63 has the updated V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and the 2022–2024 cars do not, which is part of why the 2025 car is listed at AED 850,000, the 2024 car at AED 700,000 and the 2022 and 2023 cars at AED 580,000–595,000.
  • Kilometres and condition. An input, not a formula. Two of our 2022 G 63s are listed at the same AED 590,000 with 52,818 km and 118,514 km on them, because colour, interior, options and condition weigh in too.
  • Specification and history. GCC-specification cars and imports are valued apart, because warranty support, parts and resale differ. A full service record and a clean accident history hold value; gaps and structural repairs take it away.

We value the car against comparable UAE listings first, and the plan follows from that value; we do not set a price to land on a monthly figure.

Why every number in your plan follows the car’s price

A plan with us has three kinds of payment, and all three are worked out from the car’s price.

The initial payment is 20% of the price on the standard plan, and it counts as payment number one.

The monthly payments spread the rest over the remaining months (35 on a 36-month plan), fixed on the day you sign; nothing compounds.

The annual payment, at the start of each contract year, covers comprehensive insurance, RTA registration and the admin around both. It is 5% of the price with a minimum of AED 8,000, never part of the monthly.

Across our fleet on the standard plan (20%, 36 months, no final payment), as of 1 November 2026:

  • Under AED 150,000 (14 cars). Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, 2023, AED 105,000: AED 4,128 a month and AED 29,000 on day one. Mercedes-Benz C 200, 2023, 68,228 km, AED 130,000: AED 5,111 a month and AED 34,000 on day one.
  • AED 150,000 to 300,000 (20 cars). Nissan Patrol, 2024, 60,659 km, AED 185,000: AED 7,273 a month and AED 46,250 on day one. BMW X5, 2024, 81,341 km, AED 250,000: AED 9,829 a month and AED 62,500 on day one.
  • Over AED 300,000 (12 cars). Range Rover Sport, 2023, AED 315,000: AED 12,384 a month and AED 78,750 on day one. Mercedes-AMG G 63, 2022, 52,818 km, AED 590,000: AED 23,195 a month and AED 147,500 on day one.

Used cars for lease to own in Dubai right now

Cars from the three price bands above, with today’s price from our fleet. The monthly covers the car; insurance, RTA registration and admin come as one annual payment.

Worked example: how we priced a 2023 GLC 200 Coupé

Take one of our two 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4MATIC Coupés, listed at AED 175,000 since 23 October 2026 (AED 200,000 before). Worked out as we do it for clients, on 1 November 2026:

  • Initial payment (20%): AED 35,000, which is payment number one.
  • Monthly: AED 6,880 for 35 months on a 36-month plan, or AED 9,009 for 23 months on 24 months.
  • Annual payment: AED 8,750 (5% of the price), at the start of each contract year.
  • Day one: AED 43,750, the initial payment plus the first annual payment, with no first monthly on top. There is no final payment at the end.

At AED 200,000 the same 36-month plan was AED 7,863 a month, AED 10,000 a year and AED 50,000 on day one. The AED 25,000 lower valuation took AED 983 off each monthly payment, AED 1,250 off each annual payment and AED 6,250 off day one. At the old price, getting to AED 6,880 a month took a 30% initial payment, AED 60,000; now the standard 20% does it with AED 35,000.

This car can also start with no initial payment: AED 10,792 a month over 24 months and AED 19,542 on day one. It keeps cash in your pocket and costs more each month: a cash-flow choice, not a cheaper car.

The car’s page may show a lower monthly: on selected fleet cars its headline plan ends with an optional final payment. Figures in this guide have none.

What you pay on day one

On the standard plan, day one is the initial payment plus the first annual payment: about a quarter of the car’s price at 20%, for example AED 46,250 on the AED 185,000 Patrol. Below AED 160,000 the share is higher, because the annual payment never drops under AED 8,000: on the AED 105,000 CLA, day one is AED 29,000, or 27.6% of the price.

A larger initial payment lowers the monthly and raises day one. On the GLC at AED 175,000 over 36 months, 30% (AED 52,500) gives AED 6,020 a month and AED 61,250 on day one; 50% (AED 87,500) gives AED 4,300 a month and AED 96,250 on day one. On some cars a 36-month plan needs at least 20%; each car’s page shows its plans.

Used vs newer: what a model year costs on real cars

Depreciation is why a used car makes sense: the first owner absorbs the steepest part of the value curve. Our listings show what a newer year costs (standard plan, 1 November 2026):

  • Mercedes-AMG G 63. 2022, 52,818 km, AED 590,000: AED 23,195 a month and AED 147,500 on day one. 2025, 31,484 km, AED 850,000: AED 33,417 a month and AED 212,500 on day one. Three model years and the updated engine cost AED 10,222 more a month and AED 65,000 more on day one.
  • Mercedes-Benz A 180. 2023, 36,404 km, AED 105,000: AED 4,128 a month. 2024, 14,878 km, AED 125,000: AED 4,914 a month. One year newer and about 21,500 km fewer: AED 786 more a month.
  • Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City. 2023, 58,926 km, AED 170,000: AED 6,683 a month. 2024, 60,659 km, AED 185,000: AED 7,273 a month. One year apart with similar kilometres: AED 590 a month.

One caveat: a newer car usually holds more of its value, and once the car is yours that value is yours, so the cheaper monthly is not automatically the better buy if you will keep the car for years.

How to check a pre-owned car before you commit

Whoever sells the car, run the same checks.

  • Kilometres and service history. Dealer or specialist records with dates and kilometres say more than the dashboard; very low kilometres for the year, or stamps that do not match the odometer, need an explanation.
  • History by VIN. The chassis number shows the specification and the first market, and history checks show whether the car was written off, rebuilt or reported stolen abroad. We run a VIN history check on every car, with a CARFAX or AutoCheck report for US-specification cars.
  • Accident repairs. Paint-depth readings show which panels were resprayed. A resprayed bumper is normal; a structural repair is not.
  • The RTA side. In Dubai, a private car bought new from a local authorised dealer can be registered and renewed for three years without a technical inspection. After that it is tested at renewal, and any change of ownership needs an inspection even inside those three years. A transfer also needs valid insurance, paid traffic fines and, on a car bought with a bank loan, the mortgage released first.
  • A 150-point inspection. Every car we lease passes a 150-point inspection at our partner diagnostic centre before delivery: the underbody on a hydraulic lift, an OBD-II scan, paint depth on every panel, odometer verification and the service book checked with the authorised dealer. A car that fails a critical check is rejected. If you buy elsewhere, pay for an independent inspection before you pay for the car.
  • A viewing and a test drive. For fleet cars we arrange both by appointment.

Mileage, warranty and service on a used car

Mileage. The standard allowance is 25,000 km a year, with packages of 35,000 and 50,000 km a year chosen when you sign. Kilometres above the allowance are charged at AED 10 each, counted by the GPS in every car.

Warranty. Whether a factory warranty is still running depends on the first registration date, the kilometres and the market the car was first sold in. An authorised dealer can check it on the VIN; ask for that before you sign, whoever the seller is. We do not promise a warranty a car does not have.

Service. Routine servicing, tyres, brake pads and other wear items are yours, as on a car you bought. Keep every record: when the car becomes yours, its history is part of its value.

What our own numbers show about used cars

Between 23 September and 1 November 2026 we sent 157 written quotes to 121 clients, covering 294 cars: 198 from our fleet and 96 that clients found on the UAE market and sent us to price.

  • The market cars skewed new. 52 of the 96 were 2025 models or newer, 57 had 10,000 km or less, and 28 were listed with zero kilometres. Clients use the market route to get a nearly new car, not only a cheaper one.
  • The fleet cars carried typical used-car kilometres: a median of about 60,000 km and a median price of AED 315,000, against about AED 366,000 for the mostly newer market cars, with VAT where it applies.

These counts describe our clients, not the whole UAE market.

What a lower price changes, and what it doesn’t

A new price changes the money, not the rules.

  • The car’s plan rules. Its range of initial payments and terms, shown on its page, stays where it was.
  • Where the car can go. No off-road or desert driving, no track days or timed events, and taking the car outside the UAE is not permitted. Towing is allowed with the right licence if you tell us first, because it can add to the insurance.
  • Your signed figures. They are set on the day you sign, from that day’s price, and nothing compounds. If the listed price moves after you sign, your schedule is not recalculated, down or up.

Not in our fleet? Bring Your Own a used car from the market

With Bring Your Own, you find the car at a UAE dealer, private seller or auction, and we value it, inspect it, buy it and lease it to you. It is for market cars from AED 150,000, 2023 or newer, excluding Chinese brands and fully electric cars (hybrids are fine), from a 20% initial payment, on 12 or 24 months (36 months only case by case), with no final payment. A showroom car is priced on the listing plus 5% VAT, because showrooms sell under the profit margin scheme; an official dealer’s car has nothing added. On an AED 150,000 showroom car that is about AED 8,100 a month over 24 months and about AED 39,500 to start, and it takes 5–7 business days from link to keys.

Older luxury cars from 2021 and 2022 are considered individually: a manager confirms each one before any figures are final, and every such plan is subject to DYD confirmation.

Who shouldn’t lease a used car this way

It is probably the wrong choice if:

  • You need a car for a few months. A monthly rental is simpler.
  • You drive more than 50,000 km a year, past our largest mileage package.
  • You want to drive off-road, on a track or abroad, all of which are prohibited on the lease.
  • You want a brand-new car under full factory warranty and a bank says yes easily. Then a bank loan on a new car may cost less.

How we checked the numbers

Our figures use the calculator behind our client quotes and each car’s price on 1 November 2026. Prices move, so the car’s page carries the live figure, and every plan is subject to DYD confirmation on the day you sign. Fleet and quote counts come from our records, without names or phone numbers.

Each car was checked against its own page on driveyourdream.club; the bank and RTA rules come from the official sources below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you lease a used car in Dubai?

Yes. You pay an initial payment, fixed monthly payments and one annual payment for insurance and registration, and the car is transferred to your name after the last payment. You apply with an Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence.

How much does a used car lease cost in Dubai per month?

It follows the car’s price. As of 1 November 2026, with a 20% initial payment over 36 months and no final payment, a 2023 CLA 250 at AED 105,000 is AED 4,128 a month and a 2022 G 63 at AED 590,000 is AED 23,195, plus an annual payment of 5% of the price, at least AED 8,000.

Is it better to lease a used car or a new one?

A used car costs less a month because the first owner absorbed the steepest depreciation: on our listings a 2022 G 63 is AED 23,195 a month and a 2025 one AED 33,417. A newer car keeps more of its value and warranty.

Can I lease to own a used car without a bank?

Yes. You lease the car directly from us, so no bank is involved and we do not check your AECB score. An Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence are enough to apply.

Does high mileage make a used car cheaper to lease?

Usually, but not by formula: kilometres sit next to year, condition, history and specification. Compare kilometres yourself and read the inspection report. Your own allowance is 25,000 km a year, with 35,000 and 50,000 km packages.

Do used cars on lease to own come with a warranty?

Only if factory warranty or a service contract is still left on the car, which depends on its first registration date, kilometres and first market. Ask an authorised dealer to check it on the VIN before you sign.

Can I lease a used Mercedes-Benz in Dubai?

Yes. Mercedes-Benz makes up 29 of the 46 cars in our fleet, from the A-Class to the G 63. As of 1 November 2026 a 2023 GLC 200 Coupé at AED 175,000 is AED 6,880 a month, with a 20% initial payment over 36 months and no final payment.

What if the used car I want is not in your fleet?

Use Bring Your Own: a market car from AED 150,000, 2023 or newer, not a Chinese brand and not fully electric, from a 20% initial payment over 12 or 24 months (36 months only case by case), with no final payment.
