Choosing a Make in the UAE Market

Brand matters more here than in most markets, and not for the reason people assume. Dealer and service network density varies sharply across the Emirates: German makes have the deepest coverage, which shows up as shorter workshop waits and better parts availability, while lower-volume marques can mean a two-week wait for a component that would take two days elsewhere. On a lease this affects you less than an owner — servicing and its scheduling are our problem, not yours — but it still determines how long the car is off the road when something needs attention.

Specification is the second thing to check, and it is genuinely important in this climate. GCC-spec vehicles are built for it: larger cooling capacity, air conditioning sized for 45°C, and paint and trim specified for sustained UV exposure. American, European and Japanese imports can be excellent value and often carry equipment combinations unavailable locally, but they were engineered for milder conditions. Every vehicle page states its spec, and it is worth reading before the colour and the wheels.

What Changes on a Lease

Resale value is the argument that dominates car-buying advice, and on a lease-to-own contract it stops being your argument. Depreciation sits with the leasing company for the term, which frees you to choose on how the car drives and what it costs monthly rather than on what a used-car buyer might pay for it in three years. That reasoning changes what makes sense: a marque with steep depreciation is a poor purchase and a perfectly rational lease.

What does still matter is the monthly figure and what it includes. Comprehensive insurance costs more on high-performance vehicles, and that is reflected in the payment rather than hidden in a separate invoice. Fuel consumption is yours, and a large-capacity engine in city traffic is not economical anywhere.
