Leasing a Car as a New Resident in Dubai
No UAE credit history, no six months of payslips, no bank in the chain. An Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence are the whole list, and approval takes about 24 hours. 53 cars available now.
Why banks are hard in your first year
None of this is about you personally. It is how the system reads someone who arrived recently.
Your credit file starts empty
The AECB record begins the day your Emirates ID is issued. For the first months there is nothing in it, and a bank reads an empty file as an unknown rather than a clean one.
Your record from home does not transfer
Credit bureaus do not share data across countries. Twenty years of perfect payments elsewhere are simply not visible to a UAE lender.
Salary history is usually required
A typical auto loan wants three to six months of salary transfers to the lending bank. If you have been paid twice, you do not have them.
Probation counts against you
Many lenders will not approve during a probation period, which is exactly when a new arrival most needs a car.
What we look at instead
The car
It stays registered to Drive Your Dream for the whole term. We are the legal owner until the final payment, and that is most of our cover.
The down payment
It is not a fee — it counts as your first payment, and it is the rest of what stands behind the agreement.
Whether the monthly figure actually works for you
We would rather decline than sign someone into payments that will not hold. If the numbers do not fit, we say so and point at a cheaper car in the fleet.
What we never ask a new resident for
- An AECB credit report
- A salary certificate or payslips
- Six months of bank statements
- A salary transfer to a particular bank
- A completed probation period
- A guarantor or a company sponsor

New residents — FAQ
I have just moved to Dubai. How soon can I lease a car?
As soon as you hold an Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence. There is no waiting period, no minimum time in the country and no requirement to have been paid a salary here yet. Approval takes about 24 hours from the moment we have both documents.
I have no credit history in the UAE at all. Is that a problem?
No. Your AECB file starts at zero on the day your Emirates ID is issued, and there is nothing to put in it for the first few months — that is normal for every new resident. We do not query the bureau, so an empty file changes nothing for us.
Does my credit score from home count?
Not to a UAE bank — the bureaus do not talk to each other, and a spotless twenty-year record elsewhere is invisible here. It does not count with us either, but for the opposite reason: we do not look at credit history at all, wherever it was built.
Do you lease to any nationality?
Yes. Any nationality, from day one of the residence visa.
I am still on probation at a new job. Does that matter?
Not to us. We do not ask for an employment contract, a probation-completion letter or a salary certificate. A bank would ask for all three.
What if I do not have a UAE driving licence yet?
That one is required — the car is registered here and driven here for the whole term, and a home licence or an international permit does not cover a lease of 12 to 36 months. Convert or sit the test first, then come back to us.
What documents do I actually need?
Two: a valid Emirates ID and a valid UAE driving licence. No salary certificate, no bank statement, no separate visa copy — an Emirates ID is not issued without a residence visa.
What is the catch, if there is no credit check?
There is no catch, there is a different structure. We are not lending you money — we buy the car and lease it to you, and it stays registered to Drive Your Dream for the whole term. The car and your down payment are what stand behind the agreement, which is why your history is not part of the decision.
